“Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious – the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.” (Philipians 4:8 MSG)
Planning our wedding in Charlotte while my fiance was in Canada was tough for me, but after I met with our pastor he chose grace as the focal point of our ceremony and my life truly hasn’t been the same since.
My husband and I also (sadly) spent months apart after our wedding waiting for my visa but God really used that to slowly transform my life, helping me to revisit the Gospel after a long time away with fresh eyes and a new heart. I started attending church, reading my Bible every day, listening to podcasts, going to Bible study (for all you Charlotte ladies, check out FIGs!), developing a prayer life… something just clicked and this time around, the message of our Redeemer and the hope He gives us was undeniable.
With my blog turning a year old this week (can’t believe I have been blogging for a year!), He has put it on my heart to make some changes here – I prayerfully hope to share more about my life and walk with Christ in this little space. One of the ways the Lord softened my heart was through social media and by putting so many encouraging Christian women in my path via Instagram and Twitter (and IRL, too!). I have become incredibly inspired by their beautiful commitment to lead a God-first life where “He must become greater; I must become less” (John 3:30).
I have good days and bad days, focused and distracted days, happy days and complaining-filled days, just like everyone else. Being a Christian isn’t about being perfect and that’s why I need Him. This past year has felt both monumentally fast paced and filled with change while slow and somewhat confusing at the same time. But He is always faithful in teaching me, never leaving me and loving me.
Thank y’all so much for reading here… it has been such a joy to have this creative outlet and to get to know all of you fabulous ladies in the blogosphere.
Have a lovely and blessed day :) xo
